8am – Why Use High Resistance Ground?: A Closer Look at Safety and Reliability

Abstract

Historically speaking, high resistance ground has been used to prevent system shutdown of important processes. A more recent adoption of the technology has focused on system safety and arc flash reduction. This presentation will take a deep dive to look into both of these and why high resistance grounding is the most efficient approach to both reliability and safety in today’s electrical environment.

Presenter

Christopher M. Small

Electrical Application Engineer – Post Glover Resistors

Chris Small graduated with his BSEE at the Ohio State University. He has been in the power industry for over 20 years. He works closely with system engineers and helps with the specification of system grounding. Chris frequently gives IEEE sponsored event presentations nationally.
