Abstract

Industrial automation and controls have stagnated without much innovation for the past 30 years. The IEC 61499 standard has renewed interest as part of Industry 4.0 to enhance IEC 61131-3, reduce the learning curve for new programmers in an aging industry, and provide customers with the ability to utilize truly vendor-agnostic “plug and play” solutions. This presentation will cover IEC 61499 and what it means for electrical distribution equipment as IT/OT converge to unlock the full potential of Industry 4.0.

Product Management – Schneider Electric

Brett Redmond is the Head of Product Management for the EcoStruxure Automation Expert product offering for Schneider Electric, driving product development to meet evolving market requirements. Prior to this, he has spent over 14 years working in discrete, hybrid and continuous process control. Brett graduated with a B.S in Nuclear Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A in Corporate Strategy from Boston University.
