The HEL is also a strong supporter of both the Professional Association of Industrial Distribution (PAID), a Texas A&M Student Association, and the Supply Chain Industry and Distribution Organization (SIDO), a University of Houston student organization. PAID and SIDO are organizational platforms for promoting student involvement with Industrial Distribution and Supply Chain Logistics Technology faculty and industry personnel. Student members organize and publicize business meetings, power lunches, social events, field trips, publications, and more to provide opportunities outside the classroom opportunities that enhance career skills.
The Houston Electrical League (HEL) has always been a strong supporter of our youth and members desiring to enhance their education or develop additional trade skills. The Houston Electrical League Scholarship Foundation (HELSF) provides up to $60,000 per year in scholarships to qualified student applicants and employees of HEL member companies.HEL and HELSF Scholarships have benefited students pursuing their Undergraduate Degree at a four-year university, an Associates Degree from a junior college, and applicants deciding to attend a trade school to enhance their work skills.
Why do we do this?
The HEL is committed to giving back to those companies and their employees that make up our membership. One focus of the scholarship is to raise awareness of our industry in order to try and attract new talent into our industry while helping our members pay for their child’s education. We also want to provide current employees in our industry with assistance in their continuing education in order to better themselves and their company.
How do we do this?
Directly from membership dues collected from our corporate members, student members, and individual members. Our commitment is that 100% of all membership dues collected in a calendar year will be distributed in the form of scholarships. Your individual or corporate membership dues will directly support the scholarships that we award each year. That is our commitment.
The HEL offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to meet the needs of young students and employees of our member companies.
