The $1,000.00 “Undergraduate Scholarship” awards are drawn in the fall and spring. The undergraduate scholarship awards are selected by a random drawing at the conclusion of the fall and spring golf tournaments. We ask that a representative of the applicant attend the drawing, but it is not mandatory. A member may only win this scholarship twice. Eligibility Requirement: Only employees of a member company, or children of employees of a member company, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The “Career Advancement” and “Head Start” scholarships will be awarded a minimum of twice a year (spring/fall) that the HEL Board is in session. Qualified applicants will have their name entered into a drawing and winners will be selected at random during one of our monthly HEL Board Meetings which occur from September to May each year. A member may only win either of these scholarships twice. Eligibility Requirement: Only employees of a member company, or children of employees of a member company, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The special “Named Scholarship” awards are open to undergraduate students starting their Junior or Senior year (60+ hours completed by the end of the current semester) at Texas A&M or The University of Houston majoring in the Industrial Distribution program or equivalent. These students do not have to be members or children of a member. The HEL Scholarship Committee conducts personal interviews with these applicants each year in February. Award recipients are decided by majority vote of the scholarship committee based on a personal interview process. A student may only win this scholarship once.
