Medium and High Voltage (MV/HV) electrical failures can lead to significant operational disruptions and financial losses. This presentation explores the critical role of continuous partial discharge (PD) monitoring in preventing such failures. Jorge Rivera from EA Technology discusses the mechanisms of PD, its impact on substation equipment, and the advantages of implementing permanent PD monitoring systems. The session provides insights into identifying early warning signs of insulation deterioration, enabling proactive maintenance strategies to enhance system reliability and safety. He has been with EA Technology for four years and has over 25 years of experience with instrument sales & support. He is an engineering graduate from Stevens Institute of Technology ‘89. When not at work, Jorge enjoys time with his family at the Jersey Shore.
